Flexible mixes.
Durable waterproofing.
Amitek HMC-501 is an acrylic emulsion polymer modifier for cementitious mortars. It enhances flexibility, adhesion and water resistance to improve the performance of cement-based waterproofing systems.
Applied over a nanopore-filling primer system based on Amitek HWR-22 and Amitek CMP-78, the modified mortar forms a durable waterproofing layer on concrete and masonry substrates.
From terraces and balconies to wet areas and repair mortars, HMC-501 supports flexible, well-bonded coatings designed for long-term protection.

A polymer modifier that supports flexible coatings, strong bonding and durable protection.
Flexible cementitious mixes
Enhances the flexibility and water resistance of cementitious mortars and coatings.
Strong adhesion
Improves bonding to existing concrete and masonry for a durable waterproof layer.
Minor crack bridging
Helps create flexible coatings that bridge minor surface cracks.
Durability under exposure
Offers resistance to ageing, chemicals and light exposure to support long-term performance.
Formulation compatibility
Compatible with fillers and additives such as silica flour, chalk, ground quartz and defoamers.
Versatile mortar modification

Recommended applications
For roofs, wet areas and repair systems.
Suitable for polymer-modified cementitious waterproofing and mortar applications on concrete and masonry.
- Polymer-modified cementitious mortars and waterproofing coatings
- Terraces, flat roofs, balconies and horizontal concrete surfaces
- Wet areas including bathrooms, kitchens and utility spaces
- Repair mortars, screeds and plastering
- Crack-bridging applications on concrete and masonry
- Cement-based waterproofing systems over suitably primed surfaces
Mixing & application
Two stages. One waterproofing system.
Prepare the primer and mortar separately, following the ratios specified in the technical data sheet.
Stage 1 · Primer layer
Apply the nanopore-filling primer and allow it to dry thoroughly.
Stage 2 · Waterproofing mortar
Mix to a smooth, lump-free consistency before application.
Prime the substrate
Apply a nanopore-filling primer using Amitek HWR-22 : Amitek CMP-78 : Water in a 2 : 3 : 20 ratio. Allow the primer layer to dry thoroughly.
Prepare the mortar
Mix Amitek HMC-501 : Cement : Water in a 1 : 0.750 : 0.200 ratio to achieve a smooth, lump-free consistency.
Apply uniformly
Apply the prepared mortar over the primed surface using a trowel or spatula. Ensure proper compaction and adhesion.
Finish and cure
Maintain uniform thickness and finish before the mortar’s initial set. Protect against rapid drying and carry out proper curing.
Formulation guidance: The TDS also describes performance at 20–30% polymer solid modification based on cement weight. This is a separate formulation reference, not a replacement for the stated mortar mixing ratio. Confirm customised formulations with Amitek’s technical team.
