Heat-reflective roof protection

Amitek Cool Roof Seal

Reflect solar heat. Reduce surface temperature. Protect against water seepage.

Product overview

Reflect the heat.
Protect the roof.

Amitek Cool Roof Seal is a liquid-applied, fibre-reinforced elastomeric coating made with resilient acrylic binders and durable polyester fibres. It forms a flexible, seamless waterproofing membrane on application.

The bright white, high-build coating reflects solar heat and helps reduce substrate temperature by up to 12°C, as stated in the TDS. Its flexible film combines heat-reflective and crack-bridging protection.

The single-component, ready-to-use formulation is suitable for RCC and plaster surfaces, including roofs, terraces, parapets, sunshades and exterior vertical walls.

Key features & benefits

One coating. Heat and water protection.

A roof coating system that combines solar reflection with a flexible protective layer.

Solar heat reflection

Reflects solar heat to help reduce roof surface temperature and thermal stress.

Waterproof protection

Forms a seamless protective layer that helps prevent water seepage.

Flexible crack bridging

Flexible polymers provide crack-bridging protection as described in the brochure.

Fibre reinforcement

Polyester fibres enhance tensile strength, impact resistance and abrasion endurance of the membrane.

Multiple exterior applications

Suitable for roofs, terraces, parapets, sunshades and exterior vertical walls.

Dual-purpose coating

Brings heat reflection and waterproofing together in one roof coating system.

Recommended applications

Protection for sun-exposed surfaces.

The Amitek brochure identifies the following application areas.

  • Building roofs and terraces
  • Parapets and sunshades
  • Exterior vertical walls
  • RCC and plaster surfaces
  • Existing IPS, sound brick-bat coba and cementitious waterproofing

Performance highlights

Waterproofing and heat reflection.

Up to 12°C surface temperature reduction

The TDS reports substrate cooling of up to 12°C. Actual results depend on site and application conditions; this is not a guaranteed indoor temperature reduction.

Seamless, reinforced protection

The TDS reports resistance to hydrostatic water pressure up to 7 bars, crack bridging and strong adhesion on masonry and concrete.

Preparation & application

Prepare. Self-prime. Protect.

Allow masonry to cure

New masonry must cure completely. The TDS recommends 28 days.

Clean and repair

Remove loose paint, dust, grease and all existing bitumen coatings. Check soundness and treat cracks at joints, channels and parapets. Repair larger cracks, damaged portions and hollow areas with polymer-modified cement mortar.

Horizontal surfaces

Apply a self-priming coat by brush with 33% water dilution, as listed in the TDS. Follow with first and second waterproofing coats by brush or roller; no dilution is specified for these coats. Allow 4–6 hours between stages.

Vertical surfaces

Apply the self-priming coat with 33% water dilution, then one waterproofing coat with no dilution specified. A compatible exterior paint may be applied over it. The TDS lists 4–6 hours between stages.

The TDS lists 40% water dilution for the exterior-paint step. Confirm compatibility and follow the selected paint manufacturer’s dilution guidance. Avoid rainy weather or extreme temperatures. Protect against punctures; extend coating at least 6 inches into drain pipes. Clean algal or fungal growth at six-month intervals.

Application temperature: The supplied TDS lists 10°C–12°C. Confirm this unusually narrow range with Amitek’s technical team before application. Full-system consumption should also be confirmed for your substrate.

Store tightly closed and upright in a cool, dry place. Keep away from children and food. Wear eye protection; wash skin contact with soap and water. Seek medical advice after eye contact or ingestion. Do not dispose of leftover coating in drains or water bodies. Refer to the MSDS for full safety guidance.
