Amitek HWR-22

Penetrating water-repellent protection for concrete, masonry and mineral surfaces.

Product overview

Protection that works
beneath the surface.

Amitek HWR-22 is a reactive, silane-based water repellent that chemically modifies cementitious substrates to help protect against water ingress while maintaining vapour permeability.

Combined with Amitek CMP-78 and water in a 2 : 3 : 20 ratio, it forms a penetrative, durable and breathable waterproofing treatment for concrete, masonry and render surfaces.

The system reduces capillary water absorption and provides resistance to wind-driven rain, UV exposure and chemical leaching while preserving the natural appearance of the substrate.

Key features & benefits

Built for breathable protection.

A penetrating treatment that helps mineral surfaces resist moisture without sealing in vapour.

Water repellency

Rapidly develops hydrophobicity and reduces water ingress and capillary absorption.

Vapour permeability

Helps resist incoming water while maintaining the substrate’s ability to release vapour.

Natural appearance

A non-yellowing treatment that maintains the natural appearance of treated surfaces.

Alkali resistance

High resistance to alkalis makes the treatment stable on concrete and other alkaline substrates.

Paint compatibility

Offers excellent adhesion for mineral-based exterior coatings and can act as a primer for exterior mineral paints.

Deep penetration

Actively penetrates substrate pores, with tack-free drying and durable protection over time.

Recommended applications

One treatment. A range of mineral surfaces.

Designed for water-repellent treatment of porous, mineral-based construction materials.

  • Architectural concrete and cement fibreboards
  • Concrete blocks, including non-load and split-face blocks
  • Brickwork, sand-lime masonry and aerated concrete blocks
  • Mineral plasters, render and stucco
  • Pavers, porous and dense bricks, and clay tiles
  • Natural and artificial stone
  • Priming beneath exterior mineral paints

Application guidelines

A clear process for correct application.

Follow the preparation, mixing and curing requirements in the Amitek HWR-22 technical data sheet.

Prepare the surface

Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and free from loose dirt, oils, grease or paint.

Mix the components

Mix HWR-22 : CMP-78 : Water in a 2 : 3 : 20 ratio. Stir thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous slurry.

Apply two coats

Apply with a brush, roller or low-pressure spray. Use a wet-on-wet method: apply the second coat while the first is still wet.

Allow proper curing

Allow natural curing under sunlight for at least 24 hours. Avoid traffic or washing for at least 48 hours.

Application precautions: Protect non-absorbent surfaces to prevent staining. Wipe accidental splashes promptly with soapy water or a suitable organic solvent, as specified in the TDS.
